Overall Build Sequence for 70 Challenger
« on: July 01, 2002 - 12:14:19 AM »
Well, it looks like we'll finally be getting our car (70 Challenger RT/SE, 383, auto) back from the body shop in a couple of weeks.   ;D  EVERYTHING is off the car except the suspension.  Couple of questions as we get our minds around putting her back together.

Does anyone have any tips, techniques or experiences about the sequence in which Challengers should be reassembled?  For example, our engine and transmission are ready to install.  What HAS to be done before they are installed?  Another example, is there a reason we shouldn't put the wiring harnesses, gas and brake lines in first?  We don't want to have to take something back off (or spend more money to replace something) because we lacked foresight in our sequence.

If someone has some kind of checklist or anything, that would be a great help.

We're going to see the car in the body shop tomorrow.  I'll post pictures tomorrow night.

There are a number of ways to do this , you can put most of the front suspension together , bolt the enigine & tranny to the K frame & lower the body over them like the factory did or bolt the k frame in first & lower the engine into it/. A lot of the lines etc are easier to install before the drivetrain goes in  & I see no problem with installing them first. The firewall insulation & heater box, pedals  is easier when installed before the Dash /wiring is put in  & I would install the front wiring after the drivetrain. ;)
