No, most people remove them anyways.

Rimblow was an option. Steering wheels are not coded on the tag.

Second did the door panel come with wood grain inserts or blank.

Later build car so it should have the inserts.

What would come standard on the R/T models, I dont have the build sheet, can you get a duplication of original
,ned  to know what rims were on car, gas cap. I have what was on car when I bought it.

Thanks

Unfortunately the wheels and steering wheel options would only have been on the broadcast sheet and possibly the original bill of sale.  Those items weren't listed  on the fender tag.  You can probably find out what came stock on an R/T but there is no way of knowing what your car originally had.

If you do not have a broadcast sheet, there's no way to reproduce one that I know of.  You might check Barry Washington's www.hamtramck-historical.com/ and see if anyone happened to find your sheet in another car (it happens).

Not a fan of body side moulding.  I think probably >50% of cars had 'em.

Neat car sounds like.  Would look awesome with a blackout hood and rear black bumble bee stripe to go w/the black vinyl top.

It's not a six-pack or hemi car, so should be all right to deviate a little bit from what it was ordered with.

Standard on an R/T?  Not much, really. 383 magnum, heavy duty suspension, 3 speed manual tranny, R/T hood, dual exhaust, (chrome tips were optional), rallye cluster and, that' s about it. Torqueflite, (or 4 speed), were optional, disc brakes, (even power brakes), were optional, sure-grip was optional, rallye wheels were optional, (standard wheel were 14'', steel wheel, with small dish hubcaps). flip top gas cap was optional, power steering was optional, radio was optional, even bucket seats were optionals, but about 90% of Challies had them, same for the console, (it was possible to get bucket seats without a console). You get the idea. I' m not the best expert out there, other might know better, but, the R/T package didn' t offer much. The front grill was black on an R/T, silver on a base Challenger.

Heavy duty drum brakes, three speed wipers and a side stripe or bumblebee stripe were also a part of the R/T package.  Stripe delete was an option.  The stripe was automatically deleted when the optional body side mouldings were ordered.  Bucket seats were standard on all Challengers.  The bench was an option that was not available on the R/T or Convertible. I can't find all my factory information right now.  I am 99% sure that the tips were a standard item on the R/T and A66 cars.  The tips were deleted in all or parts of California due to emissions standards.  The California R/T's and A66 cars used the same exhaust turn downs as the 383 N-code standard Challenger.

Are you suggesting it's NOT okay?  You think he should put back the vinyl mouldings back on?

I thought it was funny that you said it might be OK. It sounds like maybe, if he's lucky, the resto police won't come after him if he leaves the BSM off.  It was all the more funny because it was qualified that this information applied to 6 pak and Hemi cars. bigsmile:

No I don't have the build sheet , it was gone when I bought car. I dont think I'm putting the side moulding back on car, probably a stripe kit would look nice.

Thanks everyone

Well...the resto police seems to be more anal with the really high-dollar cars, which is why you DO see vinyl body mouldings on those cars (yuck!).

Good decision; I think those body mouldings are kinda fugly and have no business being on ANY car, old or new.
