1971 'Cuda billboard decal drawing
« on: August 19, 2011 - 02:39:04 AM »
Does anyone have a scale drawing of the 1971 'Cuda rear quarter panel billboard decal?  Not a photograph,  but a line drawing of both sides with the 440 that is flat that I can blow up and trace.

Ok, if not a drawing,  how about a straight on,  squared photograph with good detail on the 440.  Both sides please.

Thanks

Would be easier if someone just had the lineart in a vector file.  Maybe EPS or AI?

I would love to find the Challenger hood artwork.  I might have to make it if I can not find it.

Hi all, I am new to this. I bought my 71 Cuda one year ago.
Nice Show quality driver. Had 383 Billboard Graphics but I am taking the matching numbers drive train out, putting it in storage and installing a new Hemi Drive Train.
I have removed the 3M Graphics off and getting ready to install new Hemi Billboards.
I want to use the new 3M 1080 wrap materials. I have a large graphics shop in Vancouver and am looking for the vector files for the 71 Hemi Cuda Billboard.
I could build this myself but am trying not to reinvent the wheel.

Does anyone have the vector files for this? I am willing to pay for the correct files.

I'll take a look and see if I have that file....

Could you post a photo of your 71 Tom?   :clapping:

Tom 71 Cuda-
Are you taking about the so called Wrap?
It can be placed onto the car and then peeled off and used again?
Mostly used for advertisements to be placed on vehicles
From what Ive seen on TV commercials, the company will take a picture of your car and then designs the graphic to fit perfectly.
Have you contacted your graphics shop?
They may just need a standard picture of the billboard design and your car for a pic

Please keep us updated
Ron

My company is a wrap company. I have most of the artwork done on this but there are still severe hours and test fits to go. I was just hoping for a short cut to save our art dept the added job for a no money job.

The real reason I don't want to buy the graphics from the top suppliers is that while they are using the proper 3M Graphic materials, there is a new 3M 1080 wrap material that I want to use.
So far no one is offering that.

The color is very rich mat black and the best part, the material is "easy apply".
No need for soapy water and such.

So it seams that I will have to complete the vector files this week and make my own.

If anyone is interested I could post my decal project from start to finish.

That would be very cool.  I have the billboards to put on my car but am waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer out.  Still debating if I am going to try to do them myself or not.  I would enjoy seeing any part of your project and the final outcome.

Tom 71 Cuda-

"If anyone is interested I could post my decal project from start to finish."
- In a word: Please.
Im hoping that you have great success with the wrap style bill board.
The bill board setup, although price is acceptable, the decal itself is where the complications are (at least for me).  I know that Im not talented enough to place that gigantic decal onto the car without bringing along a lot of air bubbles and possibly creases to the party.

Going the professional route is a consideration, but, where do you find one that has experience with such a large decal? Also, what if they make a mess of it, do they but a new one a try to install it?

A thicker decal that is specifically design for ease of use install, IMHO, is a better way to go.

So, yes please keep us informed.  Final price would be nive to know as well
Thank you
Ron

I see that you have a purple car.  Are you going with black or white billboards?

I have a white interior, so I went with white billboards.

I have the black billboards.  Car has the black interior, original black vinyl top and rear louvers on it.  There is a guy here in town who I have met that has an original FC7 71 cuda with the white interior, white vinyl top, and will have the white billboards also.  Pretty cool contrast when we get them together at the local shows. I keep flip flopping between the two (blk or wht) which one I like better----those  purple/white combos are awfully pretty also.

So we have the install done.
Th 3M 1080 Film turned out great. We did it dry without one bubble.
The over all picture will have to wait until it is out of the shop.
But they look great!
