WIW - 74 Cuda - no pics
« on: May 03, 2010 - 10:35:00 AM »
A friend of a friend bought a '74 Cuda at auction sight-unseen.  He paid $14K for it. (because it was "numbers matching")

When it got here to Canada from the US, it has a new dark green paint job to hide all of the bondo and such.  the original 318 runs well, all lights/mechanical seems ok, and frames are ok - but the floors are SHOT!

The entire floor from firewall to rear bumper will need replacing, and there is significant rot in the A pillars. ALso needs all new exhaust and brakes.

has automatic tranny, and comes with Rallye rims

it looks like all of the pieces are there to resto-mod the car, or at least fix it up enough as a driver/cruiser.  No stop-light challenges like in my Challenger, but maybe this one will fill the void left from losing my beloved Dodge.

Would maybe need around 10K to make this one a driver

so - based on the description, what would be a decent offer? I am hoping to talk him down significantly

(p.s. the guy apparently wants $8K for it, but that's just out to lunch, IMO!)

It' a shame he paid 14K for that. I'm thinking around the same figure as you...This car is probably worth less than half what he paid.

thanks for the input - so what would you suggest is a fair offer price?  and where is the line for "too much"?

It's tough doing this without pictures, but other than the shot floor boards, is the cowl and firewall area rusted out? If the frame really is solid, I'm thinking maybe $5,000-$6,000 here. I'm just scared that with the floor and trunk area needing replaced, that maybe the frame might have softened up somewhere. Maybe not though... How does the interior look?
