Decode 727 transmission numbers

 :working: I just purcased a 1972 cuda with a transplanted 440 engine and 727 trans. I am trying to figure out what year the transmission was build and what the numbers mean.  Can any figure these out as I do not have a book that can decode them.   PK 2801543K 2337 0938.  Also on the bell housing it looks like the numbers 261-7 are stamp but they are not clear. The transmission is an automatic  :bigsmile:

I think on the tail housing the date is in the casting if it hasn't been changed out. Every one I have seen has a date there. I am no good with package numbers

Im no numbers Guru but this is what i found in the Parts Interchange Manual.....

PK = kokomo plant
2801543 = 1967 Polara, Monaco, Newport, Polica Package w/ 383, 1968 Belvedere, Coronet, Charger, Fury, Monaco, Polara and Newport with 383 2bbl
2337 = build date, I would assume March 23, 1967?
0938 = daily sequential number

Tranny dates are from the 10,000 day calendar, so 2337 is December 21, 1967 (1968 model year)

Hmmmm, i didnt know there were 10,000 days in a year...  :crazy: Thanks Barry, I really was just geussing....so what is day one on a 10,000 day calender.....?  :dunno:

Just one day in a BIG calendar.

Another interesting thing is that broadcast sheet print times are based on 100 minute hours.

It makes my head hurt just thinking about it......
