Torsion bar question
« on: February 07, 2020 - 02:00:26 pm »
Hello everyone, probably a dumb question but I do not have much experience with torsion bars.  Can a gutted car (no drive train, no interior) support it's own weight without torsion bars?  I plan to remove them while on a lift, then need to move the car to another area in the garage.

Thanks

Generally yes, the lower control arms will bottom out on the snubbers so you should be able to move it around unless you have some big tires (or tall) on it; then you might get some rubbing of the tire on the fenders (assuming the fenders are on the car).
Current Mopar

05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

Thanks for the response!  Yes fenders are on the car but I can remove them, only have 2 bolts holding them on at the moment, and I still have little stock 225 tires on it for storage so I might be fine then.

Thanks again
