intake manifold torque?

my service manual says 40 lb-ft for the (8) large bolts - but says nothing about the (6) small plate bolts front & rear?

This IS a big block you're talking about here, right? You're referring to the intake valley cover? I'm a small block guy, but if they're 1/4" as I think they are, I'd run them in to about 25 lb/ft or snug and use a drop of blue on them as well. You don't want to crush the bejeezus out of the gasket. Just my  :2cents:   :cheers:

yes, 383 is a big block.
25 lb-ft sounds much too high (for this application).

Ive never torqued them, rather run them tight using a ratchet or wrench, but if I had to guess I would say they are probably 10-15 ft lbs.
