Trunk floor and Tail Panel
« on: March 04, 2005 - 09:17:06 am »
Hey Guys,

I have cut out all of the old floor pans and welded in new pans. As you know, the new pans do not go all the way back to the tail panel. So, I'm getting ready to fabricate a filler piece to go from the trunk pans to the tail panel, but I have a problem....when looking down into the trunk, it appears that the tail panel bows out in the center of the tail panel. Is this normal or should the tail panel be parrallel to the floor pan edges?

Thanks!

Hi Steve,
I've got to do the same thing and yes, mine bows out in the center toward the rear and tapers
back slightly to the corners at the quarter panels. Gotta fab this one as no one makes that narrow
piece that I know of. It is almost Z shaped when viewed from the end. The only sharp bend is the
one going up to overlap the tail panel, the other bends are wide radius bends from what I remember.
Goodluck and don't force that tail panel straight!!  Jeff
