Title: Reference pictures
Post by: farmboy70 on October 16, 2009 - 08:44:55 am
I thought now that I am posting pictures on Photo bucket it would be nice if we had a post with some reference pictures.
Anyone can post their pictures here.I'll start it off with some torque boxes shots. These are original from a 71 six barrel Cuda.
I'll post more as the winter go's along of other areas I have pictures of.
If anyone is looking for something specific post it here and maybe I or someone else will have it.
This may make it easier for us to find what we need.

These rear axle shots are from a 71 Charger R/T 8 3/4. They will show most of the factory markings similar on E-bodys. The  B G I believe is for (B)body (G) is for series (1971).

(thank guys! those are perfect!)
Looking for a close up shot where the inner fenders attach to the firewall. Specifically the top bracket and a shot of that area of the firewall. Also, shot of the inner fender area where the hood hinge mounts. Driver side specifically.

I am assuming 70-74 cuda's in this area are the same?

Mine is damaged from an accident and need reference for bringing it back to life.

Thanks in advance

These are great pics - I'll have to add some later.

If I might make a suggestion to those who have uploaded photos directly to this thread using the attachement button instead of linking to a photo-hosting site... It's great that you're contributing, but the point of this thread is to have a permanent repository of reference pics.  Any pics that are uploaded will only last until the next time the uploader fills up and Ross goes through and cleans it out.  In order to keep your photos permanent, they have to be linked to a photo-hosting site like Photobucket.

Topcat thanks for the reply. Iam mainly interested on were the feet bolt on to the engine.  if you got any photos of that it would be great.   Thanks

Otter

I used to have a pic of some on the survivor Hemi and I'm pretty sure they were on top of the valve covers. Since I don't have a picture, try putting the mount on the air cleaner housing. Then bolt on the other half. Put air cleaner on with a dab of paint on the mounting half feet bottoms.

That's where it should mount.

71 Hemi Cuda Shaker cable grommet hole location.

Same for 70' except 71' had 2 cables coming out instead of one.
71's were a manual operated choke making the second cable.

Below is a picture of how the emergency brake cable that goes to the passenger rear wheel, on a '70 'Cuda, is secured to the back of the rear seat housing/body.  If it's been a few years since you removed the original, like me, you might have forgotten where this tab is attached, I did.  I searched pics high and low on numerous sites and couldn't find where this was attached.  The picture in the instructions and motor manual are vague to say the least.  It took my mechanic son 30 seconds, naturally, to notice the raised/threaded  bracket.  I kept looking rearward in the area of the axle instead of turning around and looking at the body.   :banghead:  :dunno:

Recently finished re-doing the rear drum brakes on my '70 'Cuda.  Here are some pictures of the the spring connections, hardware, etc. in case you forgot  how yours went back together.  The red stripe on the brake drum was applied with a paint brush as per factory.  Since everything I have read said it was applied on the assembly line, I was not real careful about "staying within the lines" so to speak.  I took numerous pictures before I took the brakes apart.  The new brakes/springs/hardware are attached exactly as they were before dis-assembly.  Of course there is no guarantee that the last person who worked on the brakes put them back correctly, if they had even been worked since being installed at the factory.

Eyebrow Spoiler AAR fender hole locations (passenger side fender shown):

Horizontal dimensions are 2-1/2" and 6-3/16".
Vertical dimensions are 2-1/2" and 4-1/8".
Remaining hole on the valance can be roughly determined from these.

I was asked to post this here.  It shows the areas that I had to trim on my Ultimate Rides dash pad in order to get it to fit.  You may or may not have to trim these areas.  Every pad seems to be a little different.

Original center speaker opening....no vinyl down inside rectangular opening.

Had to trim vinyl/foam out of this area so the speaker cover would fit.  Screw holes were also off and had to redrill them.

This is a bad pic but it shows the right hand side of the dash where it lines up with the dash frame.(the frame is on the top...the pad is on the bottom)  The red lines should be lined up.  There is a lot of excess foam where the blue arrow is pointing.  By trimming the foam away on the inside, the pad will move to the left and line up closer to the dash frame.
