Title: Carlisle 07'
Post by: 422STROKER on September 08, 2006 - 05:46:23 pm
I read yesterday that Carlisle secured the parking so the Show will go on.  I think it was in Mopar Muscle?  Sorry if it's been posted somewhere else already.

:smilielol: :smilielol:  MEK has had the same problem two years in a row!  I wish I had that kind of pull to get everyone a fridge in their room.  I'm sure everyone will have to request it when they make their reservations.  But, they were so in awe of you last year Ross, I don't think it will be a problem.   :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

 who was??  im just a kid who spent most of the time sleeping!!

The staff of the hotel.  It went kind of like this.... I was in the lobby asking them to ring your room for me.  They asked, "is he part of your group", I said "absolutely!  In fact, he owns the site."  All their jaws dropped and they said "Really?  He's been here all week and we had no idea he owned C-C.com"!  They were truly impressed!  I thought it was hilarious! For some reason, this hotel remembers us really well every year.  Last year, they remember April by name, car and her looks.  She made quite an impression also...although, the impression you left will probably be beneficial whereas April's...I still have to apologize when I talk with them.   :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Post by: Street_Challenged73 on September 25, 2006 - 06:04:28 pm
Haha, I remember '05 when April was causing all the trouble at the hotel.  At least no cops showed up like they did at the '06 Nats for me and the gang I was with. :misbehaving:  Okay, so it really wasn't completely for us. (They had some citywide manhunt going on that night and we just so happened to be smoking some tires that night.)
Carlisle '07 is going to be a blast and I'm looking forward to it!!!! :2thumbs:

Yes, and it is growing and getting better because we each year have had more participate as a "club". The first year as I guess you could call an official c-c.c gathering at Carlisle was in 2003 and there were 7 people of which 2 were friends or guest of members who attended. We stayed at the same motel and had a little 10X10 shelter tent to huddle under. Of that little group only Pam and I have been able to attend each year since. And we are looking forward to seeing even more "Mopar Buds" in 2007. See ya........................   :clapping:

Hi, here is my plan. Can you please give me your comments!

1) Flying from Finland to New York and staying there few days. (Shopping with my wife and son...expensive!!!)
2) Taking a rental car and driving to Carlisle on thursday - can I find Carlisle easily when driving from New York?
3) Best hotels or motels?
4) Carlisle friday, saturday & sunday. What then...places worth to visit near Carlisle or driving back to N.Y?

Title: Re: Carlisle 07'
Post by: Moparmatt on October 04, 2006 - 01:50:50 pm
Well, if you are taking all the trouble to come here from Finland to go to Carlisle, you at least have to hit up Hershey Park while you are out there. It is extremely close, and is a fun day for the whole family (rollercoasters, chocolate... what more could you ask for? :grinyes:). Then, it depends on how big of a detour you are willing to take. You can drive pretty directly from Carlisle to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, or back to NYC. DC is a great city if you want to do the whole museum/monument/government building kind of thing. Philly has a fair deal of museums (Franklin Institute, Constitution Center) and also has Independence Hall, amongst other historic landmarks. There's also the Camden Waterfront by Philly (you ONLY want to go to the waterfront, and ONLY during the day... the city isn't the most dangerous in America just by coincidence), where you can visit the Camden Aquarium and take a tour of the Battleship USS New Jersey. Since you will already have gone to NYC, I don't know if you want to go back, but there is a lot of things to do there, and you will not run out.
You are probably best off arranging to fly into NY, and out either through DC or Philly.

All that aside, I am hoping to be at Carlisle this year, and hopefully there on a day (possibly days) when everyone else is. (If not, this time I will actually take the left-behind food. Sourdough bread, anyone? :grinyes: ::))

Just to add to what Moparmatt said, You will have close to a 3.5 hour drive from New York City to Carlisle. It is pretty much a straight shot West, so you shouldn't have much trouble hopefully. Most of us stay at the Fairfield Inn in New Cumberland, Pa. I'm sure info on that will be posted early next year when we get a block of rooms reserved. If you make it here, you will hold the record of having traveled the most miles to get to Carlisle!!   :woo:

Arctic, it would be a great pleasure to meet a member from a different continent.  I'll probably be making the hotel reservation for the block of rooms for CC.com in another month or so.  Please plan on staying at the hotel with the rest of us...we have a blast hanging out together all weekend long.

Now we have to talk NZ into tripping across the pond too..!

Most members bring their Cuda's or Challenger's, either by driving it, or towing it. Still, other members just show up to hang out with us and check out the Carlisle fairgrounds. I'm telling you, it is Mopar heaven!!  :angelwings: Bring your walking shoes.  :grinyes: After the show each night, we hang out at the Hotel parking lot. Pizza and beer on the menu!!   :bananasmi

Last year I think we had about 12 members with car there.  My trip is 1000 miles total and I've trailered my car there for the last 3 years.  When I get there, park the trailer at the hotel and drive the car from there!  We have a block at a hotel for everyone so we can all be together after the show.  Thursday when we all arrive, usually we'll have dinner somewhere . . Friday is the day we all go back to the hotel and have a parking lot party with pizza and beer . . and then on Saturday, we all have a dinner get together at Grandpa's Growlers.  I'm going to stay Sunday this year and make my journey home on Monday morning instead.  Hope to see everyone this year as it's going to be GREAT!!   :bananasmi

I sure would like to check it out!  Sounds like my kinda' place!  It's just too far away. mayby someones headed past me with room on their trailer. 3:91's on a 3K road trip sounds expensive!!   It's right in the middle of my race season.  I'll have to look into it more. it sure sounds like the place to be! :ylsuper:

Colorado is a little out of the way for me!

I was wondering what times were the meetings. We would like to come to the Friday night Pizza party and would also like to meet for the Saturday night party. I would like to know where to meet if it was OK if we tag along and get to know some new people. Just about all of our friends that we have meet in the past 20 some years are people we have meet through the MOPAR functions. There are NO better people in the country. We are staying in the same Motel we were in in 05. This Motel is in Etters on the south side of Harrisburg. It works out great as we do day trips to see the Civil War stuff which we plan on doing a lot more this time. In all we will be in Pa., Mar. ,Vir, and WVir for 3 weeks doing the Civil War tourist stuff.  I guess I kind of rambled on a little. :blah: :blah: :blah:

Thanks for any info,

The Friday night pizza party is in the hotel parking lot. The Hotel is right off of I-83, which shouldn't be far from you if you are South of Harrisburg. The time is the question.  :clueless: Maybe 8-ish. The Saturday night dinner won't be all that far from you either. Again, around 8-ish. Do you plan on coming to the Carlisle Fairgrounds?

We will be at the show probably on Thursday - Sat. We have our PT reg for the show. We have tickets for the Gettysburg battlefield ren. for Sunday. In 05 we didn't get to meet very many people as we stayed with the Trans Am reunion pretty much. We didn't know much about all the gatherings. This time around we would like to get more invalved with the goings on.

We did stop at the dealership in 05. It was a very good gathering and the burgers were pretty good also.
