Title: Newb from Brisbane Australia
Post by: crash340 on October 21, 2013 - 08:42:42 pm
Hi All,
I check out this forum avery day, its awesome thanks to you all.
years gone by I used to own an Australian Valiant VE, VIP sedan, they came out with a 273 which I replaced with a 340, street strip back some 20 years ago, it ended up in a wild roll over which destroyed everything bar the engine.
Now Im back with a newly acquired 73 'Cuda triple black. car is factory original, dealer window sticker says sold in Portland Or. and it looks like it stayed in the area, maybe up to Vancouver for a bit, has the broadcast sheets, dealer docs, even the old owners rego and insurance docs!! has done 92K miles, its in amazing condition, paint is a little crazed on the rear deck lid. has a very minor amount of rust under the vinyl along the small pannel under the back window, outside that clean. once I figure out posting pics i'll get one up here

Thanks guys, Kenny, we'll have to catch up, I'm just about to get carpliance to put the belts and headlights in it so I can register it on full rego, unfortunately I won't be here for mopar Sunday 2014, but certainly keen to go on a few runs, I actually live in Ipswich so a trip up the mountain one weekend will do it good, first thing is wider rubber and poly bushes all round, then an LS centre , let me know if you have any surplus go fast goodies.

Greg

Aha!  Thanks for clearing that up, Ken!

I was getting worried he was going to put a Chevy LS engine in the 'Cuda!  Those engines are going into all sorts of things!  :faint:

Ken, its still got its original 340 fitted, the motor is a quiet as a mouse and runs smoke free and smooth, I will eventually stroke it but not in the near future, headers would be nice, it still has the factory exhaust that is in ok condition, again I'll look at replacing it with a good stainless system for longevity etc.
from a wheels point of view I'm looking for a 5 spoke deep dish 17x 9 and 17 x 8, similar to the renderings on the "red guts" postings

Thanks for the thumbs up guys, it is an awesome survivor, I plan to Street Strip it with a stroker, slicked up auto, pipes, probably EFI, ans so on however, due to its un touched originality, I wont do anything that cant be put back to as it was. No fender lip rolling, and so on, probably the only thing I will do is insert frame connectors and torque boxes. Outside that, I may even look at a crate stroker and just pull the original motor and set it aside incase someone wants to return it to as is should I sell it one day.

Ken, if you have any idea where I could get similar wheels to the below locally, give me a holla

Greg
