I'd run a poll, but there are too many options.
My favorite year for the Barracuda is 68, and for the Chally is 72.
-
I have always prefered the looks of the 72-74 Challengers although the 70 & 71 has grown on me over the years.
I like the looks of all the E-body Cuda's although if I had to pick I probably would go with 71.
-
72-74 challengers with the bumpers sucked in.
ALl CUDAS are sweeeeeet. 71 is my favorite year
-
I now own a 72 chally but way back when I owned a brand new 71. That was my favorite year.
Can anyone help me out?
I've noticed some challys have the polished looking chrome? outer rockers and I was wondering exactly what they are called and where can I get a repo or a really nice set used.
Here is a pic of what I'm talking bout in case I named it wrong.
Thanks all

71 is my favorite year for both!! Although I don't own one now . . . I still have some time!!
I like this one!!

I've got a 70 Challenger that I love... but that 71 Cuda is mighty fine.
72Chall77Doba,
What you are looking at is rocker panel moldings. Those were correct for 70-71 Challengers, the 72's had a much smaller width panel. If you want the 70-71 look, you might try jimsautoparts.com (http://jimsautoparts.com)

71 challenger 70 cuda
-
I like the 70 Challenger and 70 Cuda but i would take any year.
-
I`ll take a `70 `cuda, either Hemi or AAR but I think I like the `71 Challenger grill the best and I really like the `72-`74 Rallye.
-
71 of both are my favorites, but as said above, i'll take any 70-74 in either car!
-
For me it was the 70 Challe T/A Red & black! :worship: The cudas Barring engine choice(of which by 74 there really was none :( (I got the 360) I do like the round tail lights, So I say 72/74, but give me a Hemi & I'll overlook the taillights(can't see em from the drivers seat anyway! ) ;D Rich.
-
Definitely a '70 RT/SE for my choice of a Challenger and a '71 with billboards for a 'Cuda. :grinyes:
-
For the Challenger, im go'n with a '70. And for a cuda(i love them all) Oh Geee, umm...mmm. A 71 CUDA! :burnout:
-
For Challengers it is definately 71. The 71s seem the most unique to me. Its like you see a lot of 70s at the shows and its hard to tell the difference between 72-74 so the 71s always stood out to me. Plus I have one lol. As for barracudas I would have to say 70 or 71 even though I have a 73 I just love the square tail lights.
Matt
-
Have 2-70 cudas, but love the 71's the most(only if it has billboards). Have 2-71 challies, but I like the 70 taillights with the 71 challenger grille. :dontknow: i guess the only way to settle it is to save some cash for a 71 cuda and a 70 challenger. ;D
-
I love them all! But, my favorites would have to be the 70 Challenger and 71 Cuda. I've got one out of two...don't think I can afford the 71 though.
-
Id have to say there like women the ones that say yes, the one I have right now I can touch and feel that one.
-
Excuse me for my ignorance, but what's the diff between the 70 and 71 Chally grills?
-
The wide chrome sill moldings will be code M25.
Well a 70 for both the Challenger and 'cuda. Although i've never owned an e-body 'cuda i like thier overall exterior design better than any year Challenger. Simply because the Plymouth hood is not the leading edge. Just my .02
-
Excuse me for my ignorance, but what's the diff between the 70 and 71 Chally grills?
Hey CudaKidd! Here's two pics to show the differences.
-
I would say 70 for both E-bods. The only one I can't stand are the 71 Challengers, grille and tailights looks like someone is squinting.
-
I wasn't aware there was any other year of barracuda other than '68 ...LOL
[attachment deleted by admin]
-
70 for both very mean / clean look
the 71s look too Hot Wheels overdone
-
Challenger- '70 and '71 (because the high-compression engines were still available)
'Cuda- '70 and '71 (for the same reason) but I also like '68/'69 'Cuda 340s.
BTW, if anyone lives in California's San Fernando Valley, there is a weekly car gathering at Flames restaurant at Corbin Ave and Plummer St. One guy there owns a nice red/red '70 440-6 bbl 'Cuda. Other Mopars, too, like a '70 Charger R/T 440 and '72 Duster 340 w/built engine.
-
The only one I can't stand are the 71 Challengers, grille and tailights looks like someone is squinting.
I agree, too bland for my tastes. But I'd still take one. ;D
-
71 challenger 70 cuda
Welcome. Oh, and pics of your car are required upon joining. ;D
-
71 for challenger and 70 for cuda
-
For me, I'd have to say '70 Challenger, and '71 Cuda.
I still don't like the grills for the '71 Chally. Dunno why, but I guess they don't say 'Muscle Car' for me. IMO.
I never used to like the billboards on the '71 Cuda, but I've grown. I still prefer the '71 Cuda, and would want a 340 powered 'vert for cruising, the 'vert would be 'stripe delete', but a hard top Cuda needs billboards.
I'm still tempted to try to mate a '70 grill to my '72 Chally.
-
My fav is the 1982 challenger (haha....) ;D
But really favorites are '70 Challenger, and '71 Cuda. But I would take any year really. The older Cuda body style is also neat with all of that glass in the back.
-
I'm still tempted to try to mate a '70 grill to my '72 Chally.
I don't see why that would be too difficult . . . but you would need a 70 header panel for the grill.
-
no headlight mounts on th e72 ifi you go to a 70 grille
-
I prefer the 150 hp 318 to the other motors, I really enjoy the early smog motors that polute more than a properly tuned BB. also the 198 /6 barracuda's in 1970.  thats a muscle car.
Personally Id rather own a 65 hemi under glass, 65 formula s 4spd, 67 commando vert, a 68 SS a 67 383, 69 440 a 70 hemi cuda, 71 hemi cuda, 70 440-4 challenger rt and a few more than One 71 Hemi Cuda Convertible. :burnout: :driving: gee at an average of 25,000 or 2 million. Gee 80 cars or 1, 80 cars or 1 Ill take 80. ok lets call it 40 some are expensive (but no number 1's or 2's only 3's and 4's)
Favorites
69 383 4spd vert (yellow or the one year only teal)
68 SS (as delivered)
65 Hemi Under Glass (hurst gold and stickers)
67 formula S 273-4 4spd maybe a green or yellow. white with gold
and for challengers mine (because it mine) 1973 dopelgangered 360 727
-
I like 71's the best for challys and 73's for the barracudas. '71 cudas have the best grilles, but the back ends for 70 and 71 are lame. I like the round taillights on 72-74. But don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to own any of them and I wouldn't turn one down at the right price!
Can anyone help me out?
I've noticed some challys have the polished looking chrome? outer rockers and I was wondering exactly what they are called and where can I get a repo or a really nice set used.
Here is a pic of what I'm talking bout in case I named it wrong.
Thanks all
In addition to jims auto parts, I have also seen these available at metro parts. Check out http://www.metropartscompany.com/Shop/Scripts/prodList.asp?idcategory=38&curPage=2&sortField=description
I haven't seen them in person from either place (jims or metro) so I don't know about the quality. Post pics when you get them put on!
-
I have to go with 1970 on both CARS
JS27
-
The Challengers I would have go with the 70-71 but prefere the 70 with the square crosshatch, flat black style grill, I'd take any Cuda and am partial to the round tail lights but without the large bumper guards. I am partial those but any Cuda would suite me just fine!
-
71 Challenger and 71 Cuda...no doubt :driving:
-
1970 for both of them. And if I could only buy one it would be the Challenger. :driving:
-
I have to go with 1970 on both CARS
JS27
Ditto.
-
I like round tailights...
But you already knew that
-
71 Cudas and 70 Challengers are my favs :patriot:
-
I like round tailights...
But you already knew that
71 Cuda
R/T 70 Challenger
-
71 Cuda
70 Chally
-
My vote is 71 cuda and 70 challenger
:burnout:
-
70-71 barracuda's(I hate the round tail lights on the 72-74,looks like an AMC matador!or copying the chevelle, camaro, vette,it doesnt look unique to mopar)72-74 challengers but i do like the 70-71 chally's also
-
I always wanted a 70 cuda and couldn't stand the 71 with the grill and side fender grills. I liked the hockey stripe on the quater not the billboard. Then I grew up just a little and I changed.
-
Nice ride. ;)
-
For me its a 1970 Challenger and a 1971 'cuda.
-
For challengers I would have to say 70 Challenger R/T SE :grinno:
For Cudas........ 70 AAR or 71 Cuda(has to have shaker), now if barracudas are included....than 68 Superstock would be my favorite.
-
I`m a newbie on this site, and for me the coolest cuda ever made must be -68 Super Stock although it`s a racecar.Otherwise I prefer -70 for both Chally and Cuda. This is my car, on it`s way from Colorado to Sweden where I live

That would be a 68, correct? Which, of course, is MY favorite year. ;D
-
Yeapp Ghost it`s a -68.It got 63000 miles on the odo.
-
Gonna have a lot more miles by the time you drive to Sweden, good thing it's a Barracuda I guess, at least once you get to the ocean. :grinyes:
Nice looking Barracuda Swedefish!
-
You sure got a point there plum6pak,the guys at my work said that to ,it doesn`t matter if the ship should go under cause after all it`s a Barracuda
-
:spank:i own 2 73 cudas,a 73 chally and a 68 gtx. love all mopars!
-
Welcome aboard MoParmussel, you should post a little about yourself along with some photos in Off Topic forum.
Once again welcome to the best MOPAR board on the net - BAR NONE! :worship: :wasted: :burnout:
-
70 for the Challenger and 71 for the Cuda, but I like them all.
-
72 Challenger and 72-74 Cudas :coffee:
-
My favorights....:D
72 Challenger
68 Barracuda
71 CUDA
(Yes I see them as two different cars all together)
-
No doubt i think the 70 is the best looking Challenger, but i think the 71 stripe is killer.........and for the Cuda......well the 71........but cannot help but love the 70 also
-
Personally, I like the 71 Challenger and the 70 Cudas. JMO
-
70 plum crazy chally
70 Cudas my favorite E-bods
-
1970 for the Cuda, and Challenger for me are the best years.
-
71 Challenger
71 Cuda Best year was 71 :patriot:
-
1970 is it for me for almost all mopar muscle.
-
1970 for challenger
1969 for alot though
-
took me a little while to get to this, but here goes.
'70 for challenger, '70 for cuda.
Top 5 mopars:
1970 challenger
1969 daytona
1970 'cuda
1969 charger
1968 hemi barracuda ss
1969 roadrunner
1971 roadrunner
1971 valiant charger R/T
hmm,... i seem to have put more than 5.
-
Great poll! Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks the 71 Challenger is ugly.
71 Cuda (although the 70 rear is much nicer)
72-74 Rallye Challenger
-
70 Challenger
71 cuda
-
To tell the truth I would have to say all years of Barracuda and Challagers. But I like the 70 in both cases most.
Gordon
-
Hmmmm.... there are 6 of us who listed 68s. Alot more than I expected. ;D
-
Hmmmm.... there are 6 of us who listed 68s. Alot more than I expected. ;D
Like I said, I see the 60' and 70 "cuda" as two totaly different cars... so I listed my fav from both ends

-
70 challenger r/t!!
with cudas it depends on the color!! i like white on 71 but not on 70s i like black on 70s but not 71!! so on!! but i think my favorite of all is a white 71 with black interior and a black shaker!!
-
IMO '70 'Cudas and Challengers are the best looking E-bodies built without having all of the useless "fluff" that alot of the '71's are known for. I started in the Mopar hobby back in the late '80's buying all of the '70 'Cudas/Barracudas that I could find (pretty cheap then), and I used to run across '71's all the time and the prices then were about the same as the '70 models were. It seems that the Nash Bridges show turned the '71 'Cudas into the "flavor of the month car" (well, flavor of the decade?). I just could never get into the cheese grator grille or gilled fenders, as for the billboards... About as bad as the rice burners with their decaled up mobiles:) Nothing worse than a '71 FE5 Ralley Red Hemicuda column auto, bench seat 3.23 non-sure gripped, BILLBOARD car get clobbered by a '70 383 4-spd 3.91 geared road runner which was FT6 Burnt Tan Metallic with tan interior and NO frills or stripes;) Appearance does not win races.
-
To be honest, I love them all! And, I am not a fan of hockey stripes for that matter... The ones on my 'Cuda will not be reinstalled when the time comes (V6X car).
-
Challenger: '71
Cuda: '70-71
This would make a good poll thread.
-
I agree! this would make a good poll! il start one!
-
70.
-
It would have to be a 71 Challenger RT and 71 Cuda. They both look great in their own way but I could own any year just so I had one.
-
For Challenger it would be 70 for Cuda it would be 71. Gee I wonder why we like the 71 Cuda? Like the TA Challenger better than the AAR. But love all of the E-Bods. Mopar or no car.
Pink Ice

challenger.....70 without a doubt!!!!

Oh no, I don't. I like what I like. 70 Cuda and 71 Challenger in that order.
-
I like 70 and 71 challengers. I suppose since I own a '71 that I should like it more. Cudas, oh, I like 70 the best, but I wouldnt mind any of them.
-
I like the 71 Challenger, but for the Cuda, I would take any year.

Well, Dave, you like what you like. And I like what I like.

:iagree:
Same here :roflsmiley:
-
who was sitting on the hood...?
-
I have always been a butt man and just love the 70 Challenger and 71 Cuda from that angle.
-
I think that most men will agree with me when I say that not only do the curves of the Cuda make one drool, but the TWO BIG Headlights are the sealer....I'm a Headlight kinda guy! :cooldancing:
-
70 Challenger and Cuda, can't beat the Grilles
-
'70 challenger and '70 cuda.
I cant really explain why, but thats how it is
-
1970 Dodge Challenger and I guess same goes for Cuda!
-
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T and 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda, although I like all year 'Cudas but can't say the same for Challengers. The sad mouth grille is not to my tastes (personally). 'Cudas are great through all years. Though, if you own a 1972-74 'Cuda, you really need to remove those butt ugly bumper guards in my opinion.
-
Thats funny haven;t seen 2008 Challenger as anyones favorite e-body.
-
I don't consider it to exist as I have not seen one (lol)...and it still would not be my favoright... I would still pick the 71 Cuda over it any day ... (E-Body?)
-
hello
my favorit cars is 70 challenger ht and cab.but also a 71 cuda with shaker and billboards.here is one picture of my old 71
cuda cab before it got finished
-
70 for both ,every year after they screwed them up
the turn signals on the 70 cuda & the clean deep look of both front ends , the taillights all the way acrross the rear bumper on the Chall & the cleaner cuda taillights rule IMO
-
I prefer the 70 and 71 for both :clapping:
-
Thats funny haven;t seen 2008 Challenger as anyones favorite e-body.
Might be because it will be an LY body not an e-body :dunno:
-
im a 70 fan for both
-
71 for Plymouth (thank Don Johnson for that) and 70 for Dodge (love them T/A's)
-
Love em all. That's a problem.
-
68-69-70-71-72-73-74 that's it , I'm done....
-
It's got to be 71 for both. I've always liked four headlights in all of the Mopars. 71 Cuda is so much different than the rest. (4 headlights, fender gills, low production numbers) But I've always liked the four taillights on the 72-74 Cudas also.
-
'70 Challenger, '71 Cuda.
-
Might be because it will be an LY body not an e-body :dunno:
Doesn't matter, because this isn't meant to be a favorite E body thread. It's possible that neither of your choices are E bodies, since the new Challenger has come out.
-
is it actualy out? I thought it was only a concept car officialy??
-
I prefer the 1970 Challenger, and the 1970 or 1971 Cuda
-
1970 -74 challengers 70-71 cudas
-
1970 Hemi Challenger, White R/T of course
1971 Hemi 'Cuda Triple Black with argent shaker. :worshippy
-
is it actualy out? I thought it was only a concept car officialy??
Since they have said they are going to produce it, I think it should count.
-
Oh hands down 71 Cuda/ 70 Challenger. No contest for me.
-
71 cuda for sure, but I'd say I like 70 challenger Grills better, but 71 tail lights better than 70 ones. So i'll say I like 71 for both
-
70 Challenger R/T hood big block 4 speed, 70 Cuda shaker with a hockey stick stripe :faint:
-
71 cuda since i own one and i like the 71 challenger best as well.
-
I hope we can have more than one favorite because I have always considered the 70-71 Challenger and Barracuda to be the best of the best.
-
71 for both cars. The 71 HemiCuda is the holy graile of musclecars :burnout:
-
Oh hands down 71 Cuda/ 70 Challenger. No contest for me.
:iagree:
-
The '71 Chally and '68 Cuda fastback.
-
wow this is a really old thread!! lol 70 chally and 71 barracuda love the 4 headlight look!!
-
71 for both cars and the 71 charger are my favorite cars since i own a 71 challenger and 71 charger.
-
For me, 71 cuda would be the only one for cudas, but 70 challenger is the car that i love, so 71 for cudas and 70 for challengers, is my opinion. :2thumbs: Without any cudas i can live, but without 70 challenger, noway. :worshippy
-
Oh hands down 71 Cuda/ 70 Challenger. No contest for me.
:iagree:Same here!!
-
70 for both ... no contest :2thumbs:

I would have to ay 71 for both!!

1970!!!
-
70 challenger 71 cuda are my favorites
i own a 72 barracuda though,and i love it
-
1970 :ylsuper:
Kowalskis legendary choice.
I like it with the T/A look, i.e the two front air dams and solid rear spoiler but fitted with a Big block...
-
71/71...it's the grille(s) :woohoo:
-
71/71...it's the grille(s) :woohoo:
So you like the cracking plastic stuff? :poopoke:
1970 Challenger is the only E-Body with an aluminum grill. And guess what? It doesn't crack.
Don't bash me...I'm joking here.
-
I'm an elitist...the more grilles that crack, the better mine becomes. :woo:
BTW, I'd love to see a fabbed aluminum grille for the 'Cuda.
-
71/71...it's the grille(s) :woohoo:
:iagree:
If the Cuda could have the 72-74 rearend.. :2thumbs:
-
Cuda-71,Challenger 70(VP),although,I like the 72-74 taillights for the Challenger.
-
'70 Challenger, 71 Barracuda. It's gotta have 4 headlights! :roflsmiley:
-
:iagree:

1970 x 2 :bananasmi
no question about :iagree:
-
1971 Cuda
1970 Challenger
best 2 years made, Bar none
-
1971 Cuda
1970 Challenger
best 2 years made, Bar none
Aside from the 72 Barracuda, of course. :poopoke:
-
I love my 72, but I'd trade it for a similar 71 in a heartbeat. I prefer the indented and elongated marker lights.
-
I'm just the opposite....I prefer the round lights...
But aint none of them something I wouldnt want if I had one! LOL
-
70 Challenger and they haven't made a good year for the Cuda yet :poopoke:
I actually love all Cudas from 70 up
-
I will have to go with my birth year for the Challenger. 1970. My car is a '70 and since I was born in August of '70, to be fair to the 'Cuda I will go with the '71 model year since some of them were produced in 1970.
-
I would say 70 for both E and B bodies
-
1971 Cuda
1970 Challenger
Same here.
-
70 / 70 for sure (at least as far as favorites go)!
-
71 cuda and all it mighty fury, next would definately be the 70 Challenger, I like them both almost equally. :droolingbounce:
-
My favorites are the 1970 Dodge Challenger because of the grill!! And 1971 for the cuda's because of the grill and tail lights!!
-
My favorites are the 1970 Dodge Challenger because of the grill!! And 1971 for the cuda's because of the grill and tail lights!!
Damn straight!
-
1970...both counts
-
70 challenger and 71 cuda
-
1971 Cuda
1970 Challenger
best 2 years made, Bar none
I agree and they were the pinnacle of muscle car developement , I wonder what a 74 cuda or challenger would have looked like if they were not forced to regulate lower horsepower cars for fuel economy and high insurance purposes. prolly would have had a 500 cube hemi with 3 4bbls. :burnout: :cooldancing: :woo:
-
I wish they only made the 1970, 1971, and 1972 Barracuda and Challenger. That way, the '72s would be unique and more valuable.
-
My favorite's
-
Which years are the Best?
Personally.. I like them ALL.
Most importantly---Aslong as the cars done right!!
70 - 74 Challenger & Cuda's are all good!!
The fact is they are better than any other Muscle Car out there.. Period!
Everyone wishes they could own one. I know... I was one of them.
(Now I'm going to watch Vanishing Point again) LOL
-
70 and 70.
I'm a touch bias, but I put my money where my taste is so to speak!
-
:working: 1970 Challenger Convert & 1971 'Cuda Convert with air conditioning (we live in Florida).

70 challenger and 71 cuda (love the grill!).
-
Gotta go with '70 on the Challengers and no contest on '71 'Cudas. I've always had 'Cudas and am more partial to them overall.
-
I like the 70 on both. It will always be the first year of the e body. i did order a 74 Cuda but never got it.
-
Although I love to stare at all of them, I am partial to the 71 cuda first and the 71 challenger next. From there, its all the same, but cudas before challengers. :stirpot:
-
:cooldancing:1971 ALL AROUND :cooldancing:
-
1970 of course, the first and the best of the new model type.
:bananasmi :2thumbs:
-
I like the look of a 71 Cuda, at least the ones in mags. This said, I like them all. Chally's are too far behind.....
-
1970 of course, like the front grills and the taillights on the cuda.
-
Make mine 70's for both
Ron
-
70's of course!
:stirpot:
-
1971 was the best year for the Challenger and Cuda both
-
1970 Challenger RT SE in B-7 blue. The grill and the long tail lights w the small back window-can't be beat!
1970 Cuda with the Gran Coupe interior. The grill is cool, and I think the leather interior used in the Gran Coupe was pure class!
And of course, a four speed pistol grip in either case.

70 Challenger
71 Cuda
wouldn't pass up a 71 Challenger OR a 70 Cuda
-
I am a '70 Barracuda fan through and through!
-
1970 for both that is what i like and that is what i have
-
I like the 70 Challenger and 70 Cuda but i would take any year.
:iagree:
-
70 or 71 Challenger, any Cuda. But on the Cuda I'm partial to the round tail lights.
-
71 Cuda and 71 Challenger with the 2015 Challenger Scat Pack a close second.
-
There's no real question here, it's obvious that 1971 is the best year for both :2thumbs:
-
1970
and
1970
-
1970
and
1970
:iagree:
-
1971 w/out question
-
1970-71 Challenger
Any Cuda, except 1971 (I really don't like the grille)
-
70 Challenger hands down. RT or RT options, pistol grip and rally hood (never liked or cared for the shaker).
72-74 Cuda (without bumperettes) small block 4 spd.
-
Would love to build a Frankenstein, with 70 challenger dual front h/lamps , grille & valance pnl with t/signal lamps, but 72 Cuda rear for the round taillamps & Cuda rally hood. Wonder if that's do-able ?

anything is doable with a plasma cutter and welder.... whether it will look good or not is another question.

It will look awful. I had the idea of buying a '72-74 Challenger (because they are a bit cheaper than '70/71) and then put the front grille from 70/71 model. I thought it was a brilliant idea until I saw one yellow Challenger for sale with that exact Frankensteinery. It just doesn't work.

"Frankensteinery" I like it, that might be my new favourite word. :roflsmiley:
-
When I was a kid I knew a pair of brothers that built a "Frankensteinery" . It was a convertible with a 70 Challenger in the front and a 70,71? Cuda in the rear. I always wondered what happened to that "creation" ?
-
I remember a pink one at Carlisle in 1993. It was half Cuda, half Challenger...no pictures...sorry
-
This sounds like those bad trash movies "Frankenfish", "Dinocroc", "Gatorcroc" etc. :-D

This would have been in the mid/late 70's early 80's. I can't remember the colour though.

Looks fine to me. Should finish the tail panel, but other than that...

1970 for me challenger. And cuda . In 1971 cuda very nice but with the extra driving lamps just a little to much . But great looking cars cheers
