Heat

With winter kicking up and making most of us miserable. What do you use for heat in the garage?

I for one have an old drafty uninsulated garage and have a 30k btu propane heater from tractor supply to keep me a little warm. I did try one the kerosene "torpedo" heaters once, felt like I was going to die from the fumes haha.

I went electric. I bought the 220v heater Northern Tool has, it was $90 or so on Black Friday last year.

No fuel, no fumes and I can keep it at a nice 65° in my 2car garage with the heater cycling every 15-20 minutes.

Nothing.  It's dark when I wake up and go to work.  It's dark when I get home from work.  I don't feel like doing much of anything during the winter months.

I have a 220 volt contractors heater. It works great, I plug it in to my compressor plug about an hour before I do any work in the garage.

same here but it sure beats a 105° garage when I come home in the Summer. Bright lights and a heated garage, I can work in there for days.

I bought a used tube heater at a swap meet for $150 and $300 in repairs later, it worked. It'll put me out of my 24X32 garage and you can buy them new for about $1500. I know that's not cheap, but my buddy just replaced his long-johns and they cost $100 if you can believe that! LOL  Stay away from electric, at least in Ontario. Apparently, we now have the highest hydro rates in the world thanks to Kathleen Wynne and her Liberal pals. Good luck!

I installed a Reznor propane heater that hangs from the ceiling. 400lb tank out of sight behind the garage. I think it works great.

FWIW, I did one of these a couple years ago for my 2 car garage. Very happy with it. Quiet, has no glowing coils when running, and no stinky fumes.
