Im taking the shroud off and trying the 7 blade fan directly and see how it goes.

So I took off the shroud (because it wouldn't center w/ the new fan). I mounted the new (old) 7 blade clutch fan without the shroud, and there's a small slight improvment with cooling. It runs just a hair below the center mark on the temp gauge when the car is moving and a little above the center line when at idle. My idle is approx 700 rpm.
I guess this is ok?

What was the ambient temperature outside when you ran/idled it? Mine will run 95 percent of the time below half-way on gauge... usually ambient is less than 90 degrees outside (I don't have A/C, so rarely drive it when it's that hot outside!)... once in a while idling in park will get half-way or a smidge over...

With new fan it was about 80 out.
