New guy from Northern BC Canada
« on: June 02, 2017 - 02:49:24 pm »
I've been lurking on this site for years before I joined in July of 2013.  I bought my 73 340 4 speed Cuda in 1992 when I was 18 years old.  I drove it for two summers and did not want to drive it again until it was all fixed up nice with a paint job etc.  Anyways fast forward 25 years and I am now 43 years old, happily married for like 21 years with 2 kids, a house paid for and finally built a shop/garage to work on my car.  Now, old Dad can finally spend some cash on my dream car.  My goal is to have it done before I'm 50!  Seriously.  Anyways....  here are some pics.

I will be looking for a lot of advice from my fellow Canadians  :canada:  on sources for parts and connections in western Canada to complete my car.

Here is where the car has been stored for many many years.
1st time seeing sunlight in many years!

Loaded up and ready to be washed.
All washed up.
Just rolled into my shop for the 1st time.
Nestled into the corner waiting on me to come up with a plan!

I think I already have more pictures of my car on my phone than my wife and kids. 😬

I would call my home town Fort St John.  I live way out in the country though.

It looks good from a distance in a photo. Up close it is a little rough.  I still might give it a wax and polish, even though I have no intention of driving it or even keeping it the same color.  It makes me happy just to see it in my shop!

You have 7 yrs to decide what the you plan to do........keep it black if it is the original color
goes good with blue interior.
give it a good polish with a buffer.
Hope you changed the oil, filter, gas tank, fuel filter, flush rad before starting lt... lots of luck.

Welcome from Ontario! That looks like a pretty nice place to start a restoration and I hope the west coast lads help you get it on the road before the NDP/Green coalition outlaw cars in BC period!

I'm still in the process of trying to get the car running. I siphoned out the old fuel and added some fresh fuel.  Tried cranking it over a few times, it did crank.  Then the started took a dump.  I have 2 spare fuel filters.  Have not changed the oil yet, I was thinking of doing it once I brought the engine up to temp.  I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep the 340 in the car.

I don't have any intentions of insuring and driving the car.  Just trying to start it to see if I can.

As for the color, I have dreams of either dark metalic green, or candy apple green.  I have completely removed the interior except for the dash.  Probably go with a new black interior.

Here is an example of the color I am thinking for the Cuda.

That would be greatly appreciated.  I'm going to have to start a build thread....  to even get some advice on what the first few steps should be to start this whole process.

Nice shop! That will be great to work on the car inside. You must be east of Fort St. John. Doesn't look like Hudson Hope area. I grew up in The Hudson Hope area. Good luck with the build.
