Thought I would post an update.  The project is moving forward, but slow. I'm hoping for completion by summer 2017. All of the glass is in except for the windshield.  I want to get  the dash finished and installed before installing it. The dash frame is already painted with the correct black suede paint from Instrument Specialties and the restored pad is expected today from Just Dashes (hoping that it doesn't look "too puffy").

I had a lot of parts replated and restored by Stephan Fournier (thanks Alan Gallant for the recommendation). You can see many of them in the engine compartment photo.  The K-frame, steering box and front suspension are all redone and ready to go together.  The engine is torn down and will be rebuilt this winter. The rear end has not been touched yet.  At some point I should probably replace the milk crates with cinder blocks.  At some point I will need to locate a full set of 14x5 steel wheels which I will paint panther pink. -Chris

Take some flat black paint and a brush and black-out the area where the dash mounts up to and under the windshield :2cents:

Otherwise the pink will show through and look terrible :nono:

I was waiting until I put my windshield in and use windshield primer as the black out to hide the body color.

Looks sharp!  Man I love that colour!

I got my restored dash pad from Just Dashes this week.  Looks great to me. No puffiness that I can see. Came with a new emblem and speaker grill. Overall I'm very pleased. Except for the cost of course.

I painted the frame with the correct suede paint from Instrument Specialties and I had all of my dash hardware replated.  Now I am in the middle of getting it all back together before installing the dash. I have a some fins to fix on the vents and I need to order the gauge lens and the clock filler before she goes in. I will also need to test all of the grounding to make sure the lights and gauges will work.

Take one step forward - open wallet - take another step forward - open wallet - repeat.

Chris

I finally installed the dash this weekend. It went in without trouble. Just hook the bottom of the dash over the bottom two bolts and swing it up into place. The only thing I would have done differently is that I would have left the AC controls off. It is much easier to attach the heater valve cable to the controls and install it later. Especially since the loop an the cable ends was too small and had to be opened up.

No, I did put the original build sheet back on the glove box. It's a photocopy.
