There are 2 things going to the starter; one is the cable from the battery, the other is a wire from the  starter relay on the fender well to the solenoid (on the starter). This wire originally was 12 gauge (heavier than most of the other wires around it) and depending on the year and model of vehicle it was red or red and black. Most of the time I use 10 gauge wire for this one if it needs replacement or repair. All of the ones I have seen on older cars are very stiff from age and overheating due to continual cranking.

No problem at all, you should start a build thread in the restoration or restomod section and then you can post some information and pictures, but more importantly is that it allows others (like me) to see what you are doing and when you have an issue it is easier to diagnose and provide information. The great thing about this site is there are a core population of members who are on here pretty much every day and multiple times a day. I have been working on these cars (Mopars) for over 40 years and I still need a second opinion many times. Plus it will also provide you with options you might not have thought of on your own as others have done the same or similar things in different ways. Its almost like being at a car show or event where everyone is a Mopar person and more specifically a E body person and you can ask any question at any time. Yes there will be some smart asses or less then helpful people along the way, but by and large there is a huge amount of experience, talent and willingness to help here.

Good luck with you build; I am quite sure we would all like to see pictures of your car/build.
