can you just buy the controller box and use the mopar magnetic pickup in the car still with the ballast resister?

I don't think I have ever heard of this or ever seen one on a Mopar in 40 years. Since I have no experience with it, I cannot comment as to whether it works or not. I would say that slamming Chryco isn't helping "spread the word". He did leave the door open saying that it was his experience and that it might have been bad luck (I am paraphrasing), perhaps either take if offline/direct (perhaps you have done this) or just maybe capitulate a little bit and admit that it was possible and that you will do everything in your power to ensure it never happens again. Your company, run it how you wish but I do not think your response was the smartest way to go about endearing yourself to the members here,,,, just saying.
