340 engine mounts...
« on: June 24, 2016 - 11:25:03 am »
second guessing my self as engine was blank when I got it,
which side should the engine mount brackets be bolted to the engine,
and which direction should the bolts/nuts be?

The mounts should be behind the ears on the block.

The bolts I am not sure about.

The nuts were on the front side on mine.  My guess is that it could have varied.

I got me engine back from the shop and today and i have a 340 mount problem.

I removed these mounts off a 340 block and I built a MP 340 new block. Everything is supposed to bolt straight back on.

The passenger side bolts up just ine. The drivers side is no 1/2 out and doesn't look like it will mount up, not with out some large shims.

Can anyone shed some light on why its different and what to do? Are there more than one mount for a 340 block?

Thanks

I believe I read once that the MP 340 blocks have the 318 motor mount flanges.  Don't know why they did it that way.

Yes, you can shim it. Use a bunch of washers or machine a spacer for a cleaner look.

EDIT:  You can shim a 318 mount to fit a 340/360.  However, you can't shim a 340/360 mount to fit a 318.  Sorry for the incorrect info.

That is correct. In case anyone is in my position, the replacement Mopar Performance block - MP 340, or 340 M uses a 318 mount on the driver side. All standard on passenger side.

Why? Who knows, but Schumacher Creative Services can help you out.
