No. It fits your car fine.   :grinyes:

I've never used one personally, but I've seen many cars with them. Is it mounted vertically?

I believe so.

Some coils are finicky as to how you mount them.

big & obvious but they work fine , most coils are not designed to be mounted horizontally , factory Chrysler ones obviously were as they were all mounted that way , I have numerous problems with coils mounted horizontally MSD in particular , they always leak out of the center terminal , MSD has a Vibration Coil which can be mounted horizontally with no issue , not sure with the Accel , it may be ok horizontal

ive had a few of them -> keep away from heat , verticle only , dont leave the key on acc is ok or it will explode (dont ask me how i know).
to get max performance fron this coil copper wired non resister plugs mallory unilights didnt like it  . it was good for what it was .

Hi Dutch, I also got one of these with my car - but I didn't like the yellow so I painted it black - LOL

They are a pretty good coil but they have a primary impedance of only 0.4 ohms so you really need to run them on a HEI or equivalent non ballasted system because otherwise the ballast resistor you need will pull the coil down to much lower voltage than a normal coil (like less than 6 volts).  It will still work but you won't be getting the benefit of what it can output with a higher voltage across it.

I have a yellow Accel Super Coil on my SB Chevy since 1981 and it is still working great after 30 years. The Coil is mounted Horizontally as well on the firewall.

I have an MSD "Vibration" Coil mounted horizontally on my 440 Challenger.
