70 Cuda rear interior quarter panel screws
« on: October 02, 2019 - 12:35:49 PM »
Each panel has 3 mounting screws on the top edge of the panel...(fwd, middle and rear)  Where do the 2 screws that have the long shoulder go?  (shown in attached pic)

They go in the middle portion of the panel, they have shoulders so they do not collapse the panel. Look around the panel and you will find the holes

When u say they go in the middle portion of the panel ....do I translate correctly that they go in the forward and center holes?

Unfortunately I am overseas at the moment and cannot look at my car, however if you look at the backside of the panel where the screw holes are, you should see one hole which it a distance from the structure of the car when installed (meaning there is a gap between the panel and the car), this is where the shouldered screws go, I cannot remember where on the panel this is, sorry. But if you look at the panel you should be able to figure it out.

Based on the screw kit from R/T Specialties there are 2 shouldered screws for each panel.   I've had the interior in and out 100 times in the last month so really didn't wanna have to remove the seat bottom and side panel again just to examine where the screws go.  Guess that's what I'll have to do though if noone else chimes in.  Was hoping to learn from the forum where the 2 shouldered screws in each panel go so all I'd have to do is just remove the existing screws and replace them with these correct ones.

If the interior is all in and the panels are solid, then you are good. I know that the shoulder screws are used to keep from pulling the panels in, however I seem to remember that they may not be needed on some of the early panels (could be wrong on this, but I don't think I used them on my 70 Challenger but did on my 73 Cuda). Either way, leave it be, put the screws in a bag and put them some place you can find them "just in case".
