Trade in my '09 for a '13?
« on: June 17, 2013 - 02:45:39 PM »
I'm contemplating trading in my '09 Challenger for a 2013. We haven't talked trade in value yet, but it seems like a great deal on the 2013. Almost 6 grand under sticker price. It has all the creature comforts that my '09 doesn't have. Moonroof, parking assist, etc. The question is, do I trade up? This is an SXT version, but the engine is rated at 55HP more than the 3.5 L in my '09.

I have also looked at many cars both domestic and foreign. When it comes down to it, I just love the feel of driving the new Challenger. The other cars were either too small inside for enough legroom, or were just plain ugly.

Any advice or opinions are appreciated here.

  Thanks

If you can get the 8 speed with the paddle shifters behind the 6 I would do it.

My sun in law has that setup in his 12 charger and it's pretty peppy and fun to drive.

Your MPG should go up also and back seat entry on the drivers side ect all add up also over the 09.

Usually I say don't trade a car in for the same model, as it won't feel different or new.  In this case, however, there are a lot of improvements that make upgrading worthwhile.  The suspension and steering have been improved, and the 3.6 lets you have your cake and eat it too, with 55 more HP and significantly improved gas mileage.  With the 3.5 V6, you didn't really get much better mileage than the 5.7 in the R/T.

I was in a similar position.  I had a 2009 Challenger R/T and normally wouldn't want to trade for another Challenger.  In stock form, the 6.1 didn't run any stronger below 4000 rpm and was a lot thirstier.  Then along comes the significant suspension improvements (performance wise), improved steering and the 6.4 with lots more power and improved fuel economy.  When a good deal came along, I jumped on it and have no regrets.

So bottom line is think you will like the improved handling & performance enough that if you can get a good deal on a trade, it will be worth it.

Thanks a lot for the opinions guys.

I realize I can buy a base R/T for the same $$$, but this will be my everyday driver. Knowing myself, I think the 6 cylinder will do a better job of keeping me out of trouble.   :grinyes:

As for DAYTONA...I feel in the same situation almost. I took a plain Jane and dressed it up, now I need a new blank canvas, so to speak.

So for an update, the car I had my eye on sold before I could have a night to think about it. They have another car of the same options but a different color in transit to the dealership. I'll take the bait if we can work out a deal.

I appreciate the comments. I just wanted to know if I was crazy or not.    :-\

Have you figured out how to "Build" one & then do an inventory search on the Dodge site?
