Name That Part!!
« on: June 14, 2014 - 10:25:29 AM »
Hoping some guys can keep an eye on this thread!  We're going through Andy's stash of parts and aren't sure what all of this stuff is for!

Hers the first - a bracket of some kind.  If you know what it's for, chime in!!

Thanks for the help!!

2962318 in my parts book says: SUPPORT, Guard, Rear, B, J
The pictorial looks like that bracket mounts to the rear bumperette on Cudas and Challengers

Hahaha ok on you got me.  :2thumbs:

Dave (4Cruizn) and I read this exchange at the restaurant Saturday evening and had a good chuckle.  We needed that.  :)

Thanks for the help by the way, guys.  I was surprised that we didn't really come across a lot of stuff we couldn't identify.  I guess that's what happens when you get so many experienced people together like this.  I was shocked every time that Brad would pick up a bolt - just a friggin' bolt - and say, "Oh that's for such-and-such a bracket that goes to this part under the body - not the one that goes to this thing - that bolt is a little longer and has a larger washer..."  HOW THE HECK DO YOU KNOW THAT?!  :)

To answer the one question that came up, Andy's car is kinduva "70's" Cuda.  He spent the past - and the last - 4 years of his life going to car shows and swap meets, seeing ideas and being inspired for how he wanted his car to look.  While he preferred the round taillight design (and who doesn't?!  :) ) he wanted cues from the other years - like the fender gills, the bumpers w/bumperettes, and of course, the 440!

It was kinda funny working on the car this weekend, and hearing Cathy point out all the stuff that wasn't right for the year of the car.  It would always go something like, "Well, it's not right for this car, but it's right for THIS car..."  :)

I need a few pics of the different headlight bucket assemblies. I think his car is a mish-mosh of front end trim, and since I'm not a Cuda guy, I really can't say.
What year are his fenders? I thought they were 71s with gills- the only trouble is I think he's got 72 headlight bucket trim. (They hold the headlight in place)

I wondered how that was going to pan out? With 71 fenders what all needs to be changed modified to fit the 72 grill, headlight buckets etc....?  :dunno:
