No. It should be a straight shot down.

Pictures are worth a thousand words.  Do you have the correct dipstick?

Your dipstick tube is severely bent.  It should be a straight shot from the top all the way down until it goes into the block.  The tube shouldn't have that big bend in it at the top.  Once you replace the tube, the dipstick itself will point front to back...not side to side.

I just googled SB Mopar dipstick.  I think that picture was from Classic Industries.  Not sure how expensive it is.  I'm sure you can find that tube in a lot of places.  Check Roseville and Mancini Racing.

Just by the looks of your picture, my guess is that the bottom is bent as well.  I think you'll find that tube is pretty much a pretzel.

What I think happened was that the bottom of the tube was bent and someone had to bend the top to clear the alternator spacer.  The tubes are kind of thin.  Be careful so you don't break off the end inside the block.

copy that i'd remove it from the block before i crank on her. i almost bought a replacement from a mopar distributor but the shipping at checkout was bananas. i'm guessing the mr. gasket tubes are junk cause that's what mine looks like. the bend in my tube looks un damaged all the way to the block. it's very similar to what's currently on eBay :(

Yah, I snapped mine at the block when pushing against it when replacing the motor mount, currently have a hose clamp holding it together,
One day will put the replacement tube thats bought in.

I did it too. Then I tried drilling out the stuck piece and slightly over sized the block hole. I ended up having to expand the end of the replacement tube so it would be tight.
