Redline and I bought our 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE in 1998 and drove it around for about a year before we decided to do a full resto.  It's got a 383, AT, 8 3/4 rear with 3.23 gears.   One unique thing about our car is that it came with a V1G code which is a gator grain vinyl top.  We are currently in the process of putting her back together...can't wait to hear her start up for the first time!!

71 Challenger R/T 383 4 speed - currently very deep in restoration.

First pic is right after almost everything had been removed from the car.

Second pic is having some semi-gloss rattle-can paint lying around so I decided to have a bit of fun.  :D

I found this one for sale a couple of months ago & decided I better buy it before I can never afford one at all. A 1971 Barracuda, 400-4V, 727 on the column, 8-3/4" rear, bench seat, P/S, P/D/B, A/C, AM radio & pretty solid. I was told it's been off the road since 1986 & stored in a barn. I'm still trying to get the rodent smell out of it, & will probably have to yank the head liner to accomplish that. There's a few things missing with the grille being the worst, but most of it is there. It was originally a 318 car, but if the 400 isn't destroyed, I'll keep it in there.

I don't see too many Tawny Gold Mopars & probably won't paint it that color. My 5 year old daughter wants it PINK! which doesn't seem to bad to me either. We both don't care for the mustard brown shade.

Here's a photo of my 70 Challenger when I bought it in Feb 2003, it has been waiting patiently in the workshop for me to get to it ever since. I have just started work on it with a new 360 waiting to be fitted into the engine bay which is about 1/2 way thru a repaint. I plan to strip off the vinyl roof & paint the roof white to match the car
fit different wheels & fit some of the missing exterior trim bits. Hopefully this will all happen by the end of this year.

Cheers SoS

Here are a few photos of my '73 Challenger.  A complete numbers matching 318 a/c car, but I just purchased a 340 cause it seems to take up the space between the rails better than the 318 ever could. ;D  It's originally F8 dark metallic green with a dark green interior, but that's being switched to FC-7 Plum Crazy with a black interior.
Wow, everyones projects are coming along really nicely! :o  Congrats ya'll!!! 8) 8) :P
And for those finished cars, WOW do they all look really nice!!! :o :o 8) 8) 8)

LB69  These wheels were on the car when I got it from the importer, they are 16x8" on front & 16x9" on rear. They don't have the correct centre bore hole so don't fit over the hub. Whoever fitted them has used 1/4" spacers & long wheel studs to overcome the centre problem but that isn't safe. They should have machined the centre bore so the wheels fit up against the hubs properly. They are also a litle marked around the stud holes, looks like someone lost the locknut key & tried to chisel the nuts off (they missed a few times). I thought about modifying them & getting the repolished but don't think it's worth the effort.

Cheers SoS

Nick - this Cuda weas bought by my friend's cousin about 8 years ago.. I found the can in the NJ Want Ad Press. The add said 1971 cuda.. must sell. All 3 of us went to see it & it was (as it sits) a black 71 shaker Cuda all org. It was in Ed hamburger's family.. strickly raced it. At the tinme it had 6500 org miles on it, as they only towed to & back from the race track. The car ws given to Hamburger's brother n laws kid.. & he was the one selling, because he wanted a mustang GT & not some old car LOL.

Friend's cousin bought it for $6300, I bought it off him for $12k because he needed $$ for a down payment & he knew how much I wanted that car. After I bought it I found both build sheets in the car. It a;ways sat in a garage.. so there's zero rust & all org sheetmetal. I'd rather have that than new panels brazed in. It just needs to be painted.. sooner or later   ;D :D

The RT/SE is a real FC7 E86 D32 A36 car; factory non-air ps pdb. I won't be starting any teardown until i have a garage as there is a 'rot' of work to be done - pun intended. The 73 Rallye is a 340 auto with a slight cam, X-heads, Edelbrock RPM manifold. This one was running but the incorrect gas cap and a poorly patched gas tank combined to contaminate the fuel system. I finally removed the last of the fuel system last weekend; was sent on the road at work for five days just in time for it to rain sat/sun. The fun never ends ;) How come no one ever rides by the house to try and buy MY car?, lol

I should of built that dude but I was stupid and told someone at work and they waved money at me

I'd sell the 73 in a minute but i'd feel better if whoever buys it could also drive it. That's why i'm slowly replacing the fuel and brake systems. Not to mention i'd like to enjoy it for a bit ;). If there's no rain tomorrow, i'll be underneath with the Eastwood Pre-Paint and Chassis Black...

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! 72cuda that cars the SH1T!!!!!!!  :D 8) Love it!!!!! Good to see a white Cuda, they aren't that common.
Is that the factory color?  ??? Looks nice a sleek and shows those gorgous e-body lines well.  ;)

Hard to say, I got the car with no numbers. But from some spots that look to be original, I believe the car was white
from the factory. The PO claims this is Arctic White, not a factory option in 72.

Have to say, the color is growing on me. We already have a white car (the '01 Miata in the background), but you don't
see that many white E's. Looks great with the blackout tail panel.

Needs a teardown/repaint, just might come back white.

:o Okay everyone, this is still in the very rough stages, having a good time working on it, have much to do but when it's done then I can show it off on here! I have not made up my mind for certain as to the fate of the color, I am leaning hard back to the original plumcrazy again, the frame rails are welded in, the trunk floor new, the car is very solid, getting a 500 stroker which is complete, been dyno'd and ready to go in soon as the car is ready. I'm doing the steering and suspension right now.  :)
You all have awesome cars, I could sit here for hours drooling over them, thanks for posting all those nice rides!  :D Thanks for all the help on the forums too!!
Update 10/06/2004
Got the suspension done, might as well post it here, that's all I can show off that is complete along with the engine. (http://www.moparpages.com/photopost/data/500/213970chassis6-med.JPG)

LOL!!! -  :-[ No  ;D I had to leave there for another month or 2 because I decided that I don't want the factory moldings on and the vinly roof either, so now they said it's just about another whole new paint. They are fixing the holes and painting the top.
My fault but atleast I got it done now rather than get it back with the vinly roof, factory moldings etc and not be 100% happy with it, so now when I get it back it will be 100%+ happy!!!!!!!  :D :D 8)

Estimated time of completetion: January 2005

I'm not pullin your leg, I've owned all these cars, and a whole lot more. My Mopar car count is above 80 cars in my life so far, all started with a slant 6 column auto 70 Barracuda Gran coupe. I've owned a lot of B bodies too, including a Superbird and two hemi Roadrunners. I wish those pics were taken the same day, that would mean that i owned them all at once! Those shots were taken at the rear of my barn covering a 7 year span.
If you look closely, some pics are scanned in 35MM shots, some are digital pics. My wife says I have MADD.....Mopar Attention Defecit Disorder....after a year or two, i get antsy for a "new" old Mopar. LOL

Hello Friends,  I havent been on for a while due to combination of being too busy & having computer problems.  Seems I may have picked up a bug somewhere, but seems OK now.  I am beginning work on the '72 Challenger I bought several months back.  So far I have done some light mechanical work, cleaned up inside & out, replaced wheels & tires & battery.  Have standing by in the garage a rally hood, chinspoilers, AAR rear spoiler, fender gills, hood pins, Cd radio, etc.  It has a mildly built'94 360 eng, rebuilt 904 w/ shift kit, 3.91 rear w/ Lmtd Slip, headers, 2.5 exhuast w/ Flowmasters, Slapstick w/ console etc.  I plan to paint it Hemi Orange w/ black accents & spoilers.  It has black interior.  Don't need but minimal body work, so it shouldn't take too long.  Hope to drive it to Carlyle next year.  Oh yes, I plan to get a 518 trans as soon as I can.    Ovmf/Wayne

If you haven't posted a pic of you car yet . . . . this is the place to do it!!  You can always reference the members car when you forget what they're working on and/or driving!  Its tough trying to keep everyones cars straight!  I'm going to post some of my convert when I get it down off the stands and out in the sunlight!!  Hopefully soon!

PS: If you have a pic here that doesn't show up anymore . . . please replace it by deleting it and re-entering it in the same place!  Some of the pics got deleted!

Oh looks can be deceiving...it had 11.5 x 29.5 slicks on it in that pic. Back yrs ago my Dad rolled the wheelwell lip to clear big tires >:( also I'm having to put outer wheelwells and lower qt patches in it from bleach eating thru the metal :o.

The rest of the car is extremely solid. I even get to patch both front inner fender from the Hooker 3pc headers he put on the car a long, long time ago ::)  >:(. And I'm gonna try to take the frame connectors out that were welded in (maybe)...

So don't worry I still got a lot of work to finish ;D ;D ;D

Thanks guys, I always like hearing that. ;D

Yep those are my hockey puck 14" tires.
I have been thinking over upgrading to 15" pretty hard. Now that I'm happy the the engine and trans I think I'll be making a change sooner than later.

The good thing about a small tire is the fry as opposed to hooking and twisting anything ( just staying possitive )
Title: Re: MEMBER RIDES!!
Post by: GoMango on November 04, 2004 - 08:01:55 AM
Thanks Rev!!!

Plum, the connectors on the car are the Direct Connection/Mopar Performance ones that hung down. They are welded only to f&r rails and don't go thru the floor. I'm try to set the car up for Pure Stock racing and I can't leave them in. I wish I could to keep the car tightened up :'(

I like the way you've got yours done. Putting them up in the floors cleans up the bottom of the car.

Well, she's a 318 auto, with 2.45 gears, A/C, etc.  The interior is not installed in the car (to keep it safe from the mice), and, she's currently in another state, as I have not quite finished paying her off, yet.

here's a rear view.

Sounds like a very cruisie car mate. Is this your first Mopar? Do you have any others?  :)

Title: Re: MEMBER RIDES!!
Post by: Ghost on November 10, 2004 - 02:11:22 AM
Not only is she my first Mopar, she's my first Muscl Car, and first V-8!  When I'm done with her, she's gonna be B5 (blue was Jess's favorite color) white vinyl, and white interior.  Also, I wouldn't mind upgrading the 318 to a 340+6, if possible.  But, those things are a long ways down the road.  She ain't running right now, because she needs a new carb and intake (i found a guy who will sell me those for $20, because he has no need for them) and she needs to be rewired.

Here's my Challenger, 1970 RT/SE clone ( originally a 318 car ), now 440 6 Pack, SlapStik, factory Plum Crazy, original California car, original sheetmetal, restored as close as possible to a " real " convertible 440 6 Pack, probably went way overboard in restifying it, but hey, it's only money, right?

I wouldn't call it mint, but it is in pretty good shape. I am currently working on a number of small items that I should have fixed long ago (broken speedo needle, fussy door latch, trans mount, etc.).

I think that your arse looks big in those tires.  :roflsmiley:

Always preferred the hockey stripe though. This car looks so bad arse that it brings to mind a term from a mopar action article about a plum crazy super bee - Statutory Grape.

This ride is over the age of 18, therefore whatever I do to it and with it is considered something along the lines of "consenting adults".

The ones that are x-ed out were loaded directly to the server that is used to host the site.  Every so often, Russ (69ChargerRT) has to go in and delete the old pics.   You can tell which ones will eventually disappear because they have a file name at the bottom of the photo. The ones that are hosted elsewhere (like Photobucket) and are linked to the site using the Image command button stay up as long as the link is good.

sometimes it is a big shame to see them go, when you ask for pait colors or paint schemes, or how toos on repairs ... the images are vital, but hey gotta draw the line somewhere!

I wonder if there's a way to show them as low-res thumbnail images and make them downloadable in their full resolution from compressed files.... just a thought.

Then they still have to be stored on the server, even compressed.  Waaaaaay easier to link to them on photo-hosting sites.  A little more work for each individual member, but worth it in the end.
