440 auto Edelbrock 750 dying at idle

440 284/484 cam. hipo ex manifolds. New edlebrrock 750 that was a manual choke, but I installed an electric choke on it. 727 trans with new 2400 stall convertor.
 
This car runs fine at speed. perfect even.
When you idle at a stop light too long (3 minutes) with a fully warm engine (in gear)
it will surge a bit, and then die. Starts right back up. If I take it out of gear this is never a problem. 
Not overheating. Runs 165 to 175 all day. Just replaced the intake gasket/valley pan. no change. 

Any thoughts?

Sounds like it could either be converter related, as in a torque converter having internal issues when it heats up - or a vacuum leak somewhere. Anyone near you that you could borrow a carb from and bolt it on to see what happens?

Good thought, I have an edelbrock 650 on my chrysler 300 I could swap.

Swapped two different carbs.
Swapped ECU and coil with same results.
Bumped the timing up to 16* initial and 42* all in.
Runs better, takes longer for the surging to begin, but will still eventually die at idle in gear.
