120 on the Skyline freeway just South of SF. after it opened around 73'. That was what the speedo indicated anyway.
66' New Yorker 440. I was 17 yrs old driving on 3 nearly bald tires not all the same size. I'll never forget the stupidity of it or the sound of the unfiltered Carter 4bbl sucking all the air it could and the howling wind trying to get out of the way of chrome plated brick of a car. The sensation of driving that car at speed was unsettling. There was no real feel of the road, just a floating feeling as the car leaned into the gradual curves in the road.
Both thrilling and foolish.

130 MPH in a 73 Duster. Had a slant six car that I dropped a 69 440 hp, hooker fender well headers, and 727 into. Had an 8 1/4 rear with 2.76 gears and the rest of the suspension was stock. Drove on a 2 lane country road and hit 130 within the first mile and she was climbing fast. Got scared when the front end was floating right and left, so I let off the gas and it got worse like a death wobble. Smoothed back out when It got below 100. That was back in the late 1980's.

Couple years ago I drove my 1990 ZR1 out to Montana and decided to see if it would do 180 like it was supposed to. I found a straight road which is not hard to do out there with nobody coming either direction. I took off from a stand still and took it up to 156 mph before letting off in 5th gear only because a guy in a pickup was coming about a half mile away by then. I have loved all my C4 Vettes because they drive like they are on rails no matter if you drive 70 mph or 156 mph and never feel light. Always wished that guy wouldn't have been coming so I could have maxed it out and will never get the chance again because it's gone now. Oh and the wife was with, she isn't afraid of speed.

In 1997 my 1996 zx7r with some mods hit 170mph on Rte 1in Delaware, handle bar shake scared the CRAP out of me!!!
In 1994 driving  my buddies z28 6_speed hit 150 in 5th gear(shift to 6th actually slowed it down) car was actually very stable.
1999 corvette automatic went above 150 and felt like it was meant to be driven that fast
Now driving my cuda at 100 is stable due to my mods but it is the noisiest experience ever "lol" and I actually only go this fast on track now a days.
 
Of course this is all according to the vehicles Speedo, not GPS.

Scary as hell. Not at the time, but afterward. kept thinking if some farmer would have pulled out in front of me on a tractor.

Yeah, it was scary, with that crappy Chrysler NO FEEL steering.
