Hey Chryco,

     I want to do this engine build soon.  According to 440 source I have a "super block". The only thing I want to change is going to the stealth heads.  My question is about what compression ratio to use because of the difference between aluminum and iron heads, and does changing the compression ratio alter the cam choice?  And I want to uses roller lifters.  Every thing else in your build is what I have in mind to work towards.   Is that much power really streatable?  Will I be able to get my car to hook up with all that torque?  Or would a little less output make for a better rounded street car?  Thanks for any info and opinion you are willing to give up.    J

Hey Jordan
Typically the alum heads will absorb a lot more heat so the usual # is 1 point higher compression , this engine is on the ragged edge at 10.6 :1 compression & 3600 feet of altitude .
So I would recommend building it around 11.25:1 with Alum heads , a flat top piston with a closed chamber is far better for power , this brings in the problem with most alum heads that the chambers are too big to get the compression you want , this is why I liked the Bulldog heads as they were 76cc & were fully lower lower in chamber size to create exactly the extra point of compression  to compensate for the heat loss .
 The cam choice is not affected by Alum heads & I will help you carefully design a cam to match the power band you want , the 512 build here is totally streetable , idles well in traffic , no stalling & rough idle problems with the cam in that engine , it is also designed with a slightly lower powerband so it will run on the highway at 2200 rpm , you can run higher if you are not using OD to drop rpm on the highway .
 The big limitation I see is the Stealth heads are relatively small & will limit power above 5500 RPM , I would rather use the Indy EZ Max wedge ports & possibly the big Indy dual plane intake to fit under hood & use at least the Proform 950 race carb with this combo , possibly the bigger 1050 if you want more power at higher RPM If you have the $$ to allow for the upgrade  .

 my 512 was built by a moparts member,it has eddy alum rpm heads,1.6 440 source alum roller tip rockers,ch-28 intake with dual eddy 600 carbs,hughes hyd cam numb HEH3237BL MID RANGE CAM. This thing is a tire shredder :cheers: :canada: There is a lot of power to be had yet with a couple changes

Easily done there are a lot of companies shipping empty containers back to the US but it is going to add to the cost a wee bit & MY Machinist is in Canada

This is the post I was refering to when I said to mention  the cost to build a 512....I assumed you did this quite often?Maybe you weren't in Pan then?

Yeah we built approx 12 for my customers , My machinist has probably built more than 30 now for his customers once I put him on to how leathal the package is , some are in race cars with far more serious heads & cams making far more power & living for years
