Put a Pony in the Corral
« on: October 03, 2009 - 06:20:22 PM »
Ok,
I know I just had a post here a while back on the Acura. So just to make things clear I'm not a wide eyed speed demon looking for a race at every stoplight. Maybe back in 1975. I'd rather take it to the track, but sometimes an opportunity arises or some butt-head just won't leave you alone. I was at a car show today in a rual area of Virginia and took advantage of the nice weather for a 50 mile drive in the country. By the way I got a first place trophy for the Challenger!! :woo:. Things were over and I headed back home. On the way back, I'm on a double lane hwy and this Mustang GT with two guys & a girl pull up next to me and start revving the motor. It actually sounded pretty good. The girl keeps giving me this stupid look while the guys are laughing. It was starting to tick me off as I was behind a tractor trailer and couldn't get around because of the Mustang. He finally speeds up ahead and I then pass the tractor trailer. Now there are no cars at all but the Mustang and me & he slows up for me to catch up and starts the mess all over again with the kids laughing and the girl making goo-goo eyes at me. I had had about enough and as he revved it the last time I nailed the gas, I heard him nail it too, but it was embarassing as in a few short seconds I put about 8 car lengths on him and then let off. The new tranny & torque convertor performed awesome! At least he didn't give me the fly by or high sign as I slowed back down to cruising speed, he pulled up with a surprised look on his face, gave me the thumbs up and sped off. The tractor trailer driver saw it go down and rolled up next to me later, blew the air horn, gave me a thumbs up and rolled by. Pretty cool!  :clapping:The car has a tall gear (3:91) so I generally go slower than most folks on the interstate which sometimes can make for an interesting ride.  It was a great afternoon! :2thumbs:

Awesome kill! I love it when the kids trying to race you dont really have a clue like the girl. At least the driver gave you due respect. Usually Ricky Ricer does a fly by, oblivious to the fact that they just got their ass handed to them or the car turns off.

Well it made my day too! :roflsmiley:I was initially pretty ticked off, but after it was all over, I found it pretty amusing. The only thing that would have made it more entertaining would have been if it was a ricer!! :smilielol: :smilielol:
