Challenger competition coupe renderins
« on: December 21, 2008 - 07:29:52 PM »
Wonder what an IMSA GT or hard core road race Challenger would look like?

I like the back angle, with the voids at the end of the quarter flares. Thanks for the post; those were very nice looking.

Lol - let's see if I can stir up some more controversy...

Those renderings, from the side view, look like a riced-up Nissan Skyline.  Only the grill or rear taillight bar say "Challenger."

I'll say this though - for images that were probably done entirely via computer, someone's got some skill.

Other than that, yuck.  :)

Only picture I could find that illustrates my point - the Calsonic Skyline GT

Compare with picture 9 at the link above.

that person put a lot of work into those renderings and props for doing it but i think they are a lil too over done, The le mans series cars dont even have all that crazy splitter/diffusur stuff. It kinda looks like a mix between Formula One and Road racing. The person gots skill though

FYI, our favorite IMSA Challenger has a new website with more videos of him tearing up Porsches and Ferraris.

Cool! :2thumbs: Thanks for sharing that! I'd love to see the trans-am series revived with the new Challengers,Mustangs, and Camaros! :2thumbs: :2thumbs:
Nascar is really starting to bore me! I'm tired of looking at the decal on the nose to see what brand it is! :pullinghair:

Any more word on the Challenger showing up in the Nationwide Series (For what it's worth)?  I read where I think it is Ford has committed to the Mustang (or was it Chevy and the Camaro).

It's just a COT car with a nose and some decals. Not what I wanted to see?

It's not a COT car - it looks far more like the actual car and it has a spoiler instead of a wing.  Looking at the photos, it looks like it even got the actual recessed grille.

If you look at the Mustang, you can tell the front is a decal.  But if you look down the line at the Challenger, it looks like it may actually have the recessed grille.

Chevy is going with another version of the Impala instead of the Camaro.

Toyota is also using the Camry name, but this one looks much better than the COT Sprint Cup version.

Thanks for posting those . :2thumbs:
I hadn't seen them before just the Challenger test car in primer.
My point is if you take off the nose and tail light s it's just a COT car? You can't tell one from the other or even what they are if you remove the tails and noses? I want to see STOCK car racing not spec car racing! Yawn.... I was hoping the Nationwide cars would be a resurrection of the Trans-am series of sorts! Now that would get me excited! :droolingbounce:
I'd like to see stock outer body panels . Add a splitter and a spoiler to slow them down and help them handle if you have to. Use the current engines, 4 speeds, and a 9" rears etc.  Couldn't you just see Pruett, O'Conell, Gentilozzi, Fellows, Said , Tommy Archer  mixing it up with Cup drivers! Yahoo!!!!! Run them on 50% road courses and the rest on nascar tracks including the older historical tracks like Darlington,Rockingham,Hickory,. Make them a totally different animal than the cup cars! So the "rich" teams couldn't get an advantage running both series . Ie "Bushwackers"
Nascar is "missing the boat" in my opinion! There is a definite market for this type of racing! The auto manufacturers would most likely jump on this! Image that ...racing cars that actually look like the cars they are called??? Then again maybe the manufacturers would rather support that kind of cars instead of the Cup "spec cars " so that would never work! :bricks1: I'm betting with the grill area sucking the air that it will, it will never be used as is. Just my guess?
I totally loved the Australian V-8 Supercars! I used to watch them whenever they were on Speed Channel! Don't know what happened to them? :clueless:

More like Barrett-Jackson reruns.

Does SPEED still show the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs in the winter?  I always enjoyed watching that - grassroots racing at it's best.  OK, maybe not really grassroots, since most of the guys competing in the runoffs are just like the top teams in NASCAR - Mr GotBucks.  But it's still cool to watch.

What happened is it became the NASCAR network. They figure most people would rather watch a NASCAR quiz show than a V8 Supercars race, or the BTCC or WRC or (insert name here).

The car looks cool with the recessed grill but one has to wonder what it does to the aerodynamics....  :dunno:
